The Beauty of the Beach

Photograph  copyright © 2015 Alexander Chow-Stuart. One of my all-time favorite shots of our family on the beach at Santa Cruz at high tide.  The beach in winter is fascinating to listen to and observe. The waves pound the sand with a force you can hear streets away.  They would entirely block the harbor mouth with sand if not for constant dredging by the harbor authorities throughout the winter - which redistributes sand onto the beach, where an earthmover works pretty much constantly to shore up the road side of the beach against natural erosion.  It's strange how we take our California beaches for granted, yet most of them (the ones people use, anyway) require management in some way.  I remember in Miami Beach, after Hurricane Andrew, when the lifeguard huts were swept 100-300 metres across the sand and the seaweed piled high in mounds you could climb, I realized how much work daily went into keeping the beaches manicured, evenly leveled and seaweed-

Merry Christmas To All...And To All A Good Night!

A Christmas version of Tim Roth and me by Nath Alie. As our children prepare for bed, super excited about what tonight will bring, I offer my Christmas and holiday wishes to everyone, together with this fun seasonal reworking of a photograph of Tim Roth and me, created by Nath Alie , who runs The War Zone Message Board for survivors of abuse. While I am drawn most to Buddhism (I feel it is a way of experiencing the world, rather than a particular kind of belief), I love this time of year more than any other in terms of the magic in the air, and I still feel a childlike and perhaps primal thrill around the winter green of Christmas trees and colored lights. Wishing warmth, happiness and love to all, and peace and harmony to our beautiful planet. Merry Christmas to all...and to all a good night! (Tim, of course, will be seen this Christmas in Quentin Tarantino's new blockbuster, The Hateful Eight .)

Hudson just posted this update to his Kickstarter campaign for his retro video puzzle game, Bunny Quest - there are actually less than 38 hours to go! Less than 48 hours to go! Hi, there's less than 48 hours to go until my Bunny Quest Kickstarter ends! I'm so happy I made my goal but if you have any friends who'd like to pledge, too, that would be awesome. I am going to have additional music licensing fees and other costs down the line. But I'm so excited. Thank you! And in case you're wondering, this is a picture of our oldest pet, eight year old Mr. Bunny, who was definitely part of the inspiration for Bunny Quest. Thank you everyone!  Hudson You can pledge to Bunny Quest at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/arcadez/bunny-quest Below is the Bunny Board Game that Hudson helped create when he was four years old, and which is also part of the inspiratio

Yay!! Hudson has reached his Bunny Quest Kickstarter target!

Hudson at the STEAM Carnival in San Francisco.  Photograph  copyright © 2015 Alexander Chow-Stuart. Yay!! Hudson is over the moon. This morning he reached his Bunny Quest Kickstarter target of $1200 (and more) with 9 days to go.  Many many thanks to all his backers, including the most recent Andrew Hale and Peter Hayes, for being so generous and for putting your faith in Hudson. He has already worked incredibly hard on this project and will continue to do so.  He's hoping people will continue to give to the Kickstarter campaign , to give him extra funding to make sure he can develop the game over all platforms. This game is also part of a longer plan Hudson has for other games, books and adventures.  A million thanks from Hudson and us all πŸ˜ƒ (We will publish a full list of backers and thank you all when the Kickstarter campaign ends.)
