Happiness is a short film c onceived and directed by my wife Charong Chow, which I photographed and edited.  The film features Ana Fouster and Greg Sanders as a blissfully newlywed couple. Many thanks to Ana and Greg for their wonderful participation, and also to Captain Chris Reuter of High Seas Yacht Deliveries and the Perspective Yacht, on which we shot the film. Chris was remarkable in terms of piloting the yacht precisely where we wanted it - and getting the sun in just the right place for every shot. He also let Hudson steer the yacht back into harbor, which was a huge thrill for our son. Thanks, too, to Marc Kraft of Pacific Yachting and Sailing at Santa Cruz Harbor for enormous help in organizing the cruise and the shoot. The entire experience was  a blast! Recently, my wife Charong Chow spoke at a CalArts event at the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco. In a setting founded by Walt's daughter, Diane Disney Miller - with a rather different, more serious focus on Disney's work than southern California sometimes provides - Charong talked about her time at the premiere art school in the country, California Instituteof the Arts , founded by Disney himself in 1961 in Santa Clarita, about 30 minutes north of Los Angeles. It's a school that has produced virtually all of the first wave of remarkable Pixar filmmakers (including JohnLasseter , who now runs both Pixar and Walt Disney Animation ), as well as other luminaries such as Tim Burton ( Edward Scissorhands is said to satirize the weird desert suburbia of Santa Clarita, home to Cal Arts), Sofia Coppola , Pee-wee Herman and, um,

Flashback to a different time, when Charong and I lived very different lives. Parents don't party - at least not like this!
